The Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy – Saving the Planet

in Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy

Solar energy does not only reduce your electricity bills, but also protects the planet. For every appliance you have in your house, for every phone call you make or receive, you consume electricity. That electricity is provided by this planet we inhabit and, as you know, our numbers are increasing as we speak. In 2011, the Earth has reached the number of 7 billion people. Most of them constantly consume electricity and the common sources of energy will soon come to an end. In consequence, we have to turn to other means we have and to use other sources of energy that are virtually limitless and allow our planet to renew its resources. Solar energy if used world wide could definitely help to save the planet but it does have some drawbacks. An accessible source of energy and an easy way to reduce our carbon footprint

We can reduce our carbon footprint by using alternative sources of “green” energy. Amongst them, the solar energy is the most popular one nowadays, and this is the way it should be, as it is easily accessible. It is more difficult to use the green energy of the algae or of the waves, for example, to create electricity for your house. The sun is above everyone, whether they live in Australia, the United States or in Africa, so this makes it the most accessible source of alternative energy today.

Any drawbacks?

There are some disadvantages when you want to start using solar energy and save the planet. For example, you can be in a certain part of this world where there are no green energy providers. However, you must not be disappointed, because you will most likely find information about how to build solar panels by yourself. If no one is there to help you, you can start reading books about how to do this, without the help of a green energy provider. You can also buy solar panels online, and place them on the roof of your house or in the garden. The installation process is really not that difficult.

After a period of time, you will not pay a thing for the energy you consume, because it all comes directly from the sun. But the best advantage of them all is that you will manage to do a noble thing, which is protecting this planet. Only in the UK, 50 to 70% of the annual hot water consumption of a home is powered by the sun and reduces the carbon footprint by 1 tone. And the United Kingdom is known for its bad weather and cloudy days. Imagine what you could do in really sunny areas.
